Armstrong Forensic Laboratory, Inc.
The use of the word ‘Forensic’ in the laboratory name was selected over 30 years ago, well before the current popularity of the various tele-dramas. The word is derived from the Greek and Latin ‘forum’ to describe a place to resolve an issue or debate. As the term is currently used, forensic chemistry is chemistry for presentation to the legal system.
Armstrong Forensic Laboratory utilizes fundamental and applied science to solve problems and resolve issues. Utilizing these approaches from multiple applied disciplines such as industrial hygiene, environmental, biological, chemical, with well-documented analytical data, insure Armstrong Forensic Laboratory reports and opinions qualify for the ultimate debate forum –
a Court of Law.
Dr. Andrew T. and Kay Armstrong opened Armstrong Forensic Laboratory in 1978 as an analytical laboratory designed to support arson investigators with fire cause determinations. The Laboratory was incorporated in 1981 and by 1985, the business expanded into general and environmental chemistry. Understanding and anticipating the needs and growth of the industrial hygiene community, prompted Armstrong Forensic Laboratory to increase services and competency to include accreditation by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) in 1988. In 2006, National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation for Louisiana and Texas has been added for specific environmental monitoring.
