Foreign Soil All laboratories are required to handle and dispose of soils from foreign countries and restricted areas under very strict guidelines. At times, the source of the soil is evident to the laboratory from Client site information; however, sometimes it is not. It is important that you declare to the laboratory when soil is from a restricted area. The laboratory will then properly dispose of the soil at no additional charge. This type of soil can only be released to another licensed soil lab. For most of us in this area, the foreign source would be Mexico but Armstrong also routinely receives soil from Puerto Rico, Brazil and many other restricted areas. Soil from most of Canada does not fall under these requirements. If you believe your samples might also fall under these requirements, you may contact your Armstrong Client Representative or research the information at the following site: U.S. Government Dept. of Agriculture. Armstrong is prepared to analyze soil from foreign countries. When you send in your soil samples from locations other than the United States, simply record the information on your Chain of Custody to advise the laboratory so appropriate procedures are applied. We appreciate your assistance. Soil Movement Regulations document dated Jan 9, 2002 Back to top |
