A news bulletin was posted on the DPS Website July 20th 2017 informing law enforcement that the State lab will begin charging for controlled substances and other forensic analyses, pursuant to the FY 2018-2019 General Appropriation Act (GAA). While they are still in the process of developing a fee schedule, the bulletin shown below lists their proposed pricing. Additionally, the DPS is creating a policy and implementation guide to govern this new requirement. Click this link to the PDF version of the bulletin and price list shown below DPS Bulletin & Fee Schedule. Previously, the State lab has not charged for this analysis, and typically had a lengthy turnaround time.
